Educating Orphans
is Rewarding—Scholar Abdul Rauf Saqhafi
Riyadh, : ‘Orphans should always be given importance and
priority, and their belongings be protected at all times. It is worthwhile
and rewarding to provide them food, clothes, and education, and to treat
them with politeness and kindness. Being Muslims, we have our
responsibility and duty towards our neighbors and those who ignore the
welfare of their neighbours, are not real ‘Ummah’ (community) as per
Prophet Mohammed (Pbuh)’, said Abdul Rauf Saqhafi, well-known orator and
scholar.
He was speaking after inaugurating the general body meeting of the Al
Madeena Yatheem Khana Manjanady, Riyadh-Malaz unit. The unit was
established in August 2003 with the objective of providing education and
other basic facilities to the poor and orphans of the community.
The orphanage situated in Manjanady in Dakshina Kannada district, has had
several successful projects like construction of orphanage for the
children, provision of schools, and vocational courses for the poor, and
so on.
Mahmood Abbas, director, Al Smari Polyclinics at Bath’ah, Riyadh, and a
veteran patron of the orphanage, presided over the programme. He
elucidated the importance of education in this IT/BT epoch and said
everyone should come forward and co-operate for the wellbeing of the
community.
Yusuf Saqhafi Baithar, president of AZKA Study Circle, Riyadh, Ismail
Shafi, president, DKSC, Riyadh zone, Ishaq Medarabettu, president, Riyadh
Unit of Darul Irshad Education Center, and Maani, were the chief guests on
the occasion.
Last year’s executive committee was dissolved by unit convener Ibrahim
Padikkal as per the bylaws, and a new executive committee elected for
